This bespoke qualification has been designed for those working within Occupational Therapy, to build confidence, consistency and continuity of service when delivering reablement interventions. Learners will refresh and increase knowledge around theories and best practice within reablement, and practice practical skills to support interventions for people receiving a reablement service.
Who is it designed for?

• This course is designed for qualified Occupational Therapists looking to specialize in reablement programmes and services
• This is a practice-oriented course that provides best practice theory and techniques commonly deployed in reablement

What are the learning outcomes?

1. Understand modern legislation and policy that will impact the assessment of a person
2. The ability to use frames of reference and models of practice to guide interventions for reablement
3. Consider risk factors and conduct complex risk assessments
4. Use standardised assessments and tools to guide practice and review success
5. Be able to produce clear and concise SMART goals for reablement
6. Create support plans regarding assessment of need and provide clear instruction to support workers
7. Critically review cases and update goals and interventions according to need
8. Learn from practice to encourage continuous self-imrpovement
9. Understand how to develop new skills, research interventions and work within best practice.

How is it delivered?

The course will be delivered with a blended approach, delivering the base theory through a half-day virtual webinar follow by a full-day practical session. The training will be delivered by an Occupational Therapist with experience in reablement.

It will be delivered in venues across the UK with access to equipment for the practical sessions.

Assessment will take place both during the training on the day via an observation assessment and through a written assessment provided after the training.
