Established in 2022, Trusted Assessing and Care Training (TACT) was created with a clear vision: to provide comprehensive, practical programmes for health, social care and housing professionals who are enabling older and disabled people to live independently at home.
More than a training provider, TACT is an OT-led organisation built on real-world practice. Our Occupational Therapists (OTs) work in partnership with local authorities, housing providers, home improvement agencies, care organisations, housing providers and third-sector partners to transform assessment services, strengthen pathways and improve outcomes.
We understand the pressures services face — rising demand, stretched OT capacity, delayed discharges and long waits for equipment and adaptations. Our work is designed to respond directly to these challenges by increasing capability, building confidence and creating safe, effective models that speed up access to solutions.
OT-Led Consultancy, Projects and Delivered Services
As an OT-led organisation, we offer consultancy, project support, accredited training and delivered services. Every course and qualification we provide is developed by Occupational Therapists in active practice and informed by hands-on involvement across health, social care and housing systems.
- Our support goes beyond theory. We help organisations:
- Design and implement Trusted Assessor models
- Develop supervision frameworks and governance systems
- Embed equipment, minor and major adaptation pathways
- Strengthen collaboration between housing, health and care services
- Deliver transformation projects with practical, sustainable outcomes
We are experienced in supporting change from concept through to implementation — ensuring that learning translates into confident practice and measurable impact.
We regularly contribute to sector-wide talks, workshops and best practice discussions, always with the same goal: reducing delays and enabling people to maintain independence at home safely and confidently and we share a wealth of resources through our website and local programmes.
Example Programmes
Trusted Assessor: Supervision by OTs
For organisations that have embraced the Trusted Assessor model but lack direct OT access, the period following training and accreditation can be challenging for newly qualified Assessors.
Our OT-led supervision service provides structured, hands-on support delivered by Occupational Therapists with expertise in equipment provision and home adaptations. Tailored to your organisation’s needs, this typically includes:
- Formal checking of competencies in practice
- Case discussion and clinical reasoning support
- Advice on equipment prescription and adaptation solutions
- Governance and documentation guidance
- Direct handling of complex cases by our OTs where required
This ensures that competencies gained in training are applied confidently and safely in real-world cases.
For organisations, it provides assurance around quality and risk management. For Trusted Assessors, it provides confidence — knowing an experienced OT is available to guide and support them as they develop in role.
Trusted Assessor: Train the Trainer
For larger organisations with an OT team that has capacity to train and support Assessors internally, our managed Train the Trainer programme offers a sustainable solution.
- We train your Trainers and provide:
- A managed suite of accredited training resources
- Structured teaching materials and assessment tools
- Ongoing specialist support from TACT
- Accreditation management support
- Alignment with national qualifications and standards
This enables organisations to deliver accredited Trusted Assessor training internally, without the burden of developing, updating or quality-assuring courses themselves.
Our Train the Trainer model ensures consistency, quality and compliance while building internal capacity at scale.
Supervising Trusted Assessors Workshop
Developed in response to demand from in-house OTs overseeing Trusted Assessors, this interactive workshop equips Occupational Therapists with the tools, frameworks and practical skills required to supervise effectively.
The workshop includes:
- Clinical governance and accountability guidance
- Practical supervision techniques
- Competency checking frameworks
- Ready-to-use templates and documentation
Participants leave with the confidence and resources needed to implement structured supervision quickly and effectively.
Our Approach
Everything we do is grounded in Occupational Therapy principles: functional assessment, person-centred practice, risk enablement and practical problem solving.
We specialise in:
- Equipment prescription pathways
- Minor and major home adaptations
- Trusted Assessor models
- Integrated housing, health and care solutions
- Service transformation to reduce waiting times
We recognise that delays in assessment and equipment provision can have profound consequences — increased falls risk, hospital admissions, carer breakdown and loss of independence. By strengthening assessment capacity and embedding robust supervision models, we help organisations deliver faster, safer solutions.
Conclusion
TACT is proudly OT-led. Our expertise in equipment provision, minor adaptations and home adaptation pathways underpins everything we deliver. We are not simply trainers — we are practising Occupational Therapists who understand the realities of frontline services and the urgency of timely intervention.
We are passionate about enabling older and disabled people to access practical solutions more quickly, so they can remain independent, safe and confident in their own homes. By building workforce capability, strengthening governance and supporting transformation, we help organisations reduce delays and deliver the right solution at the right time.
